How We Got Started
Todd inherited a yard that could only be described as “a botanical garden of invasives.” The unfortunate experience of clearing all of the overgrowth led to him declaring he’d never plant a non-native. That was the only way to avoid contributing to the problem (a tad overkill perhaps…). One thing led to another and, suddenly he was planting obscure species for particular pollinators.
When a mosquito company came to spray an adjacent yard, he was concerned for the pollinators he was attracting to his yard. After looking into the specific chemicals used, it was horrifying. One of the chemicals said directly on the label that it was effective against bees for 90 days.
Seeking to recommend a better way to his neighbors, Todd did his own research. He reached out to several local companies, and ultimately determined there wasn’t anyone offering a mosquito control service that he could recommend. One company’s owner wasn’t so fond of being given the actual facts (directly from the label) by someone “outside the industry.” So, Todd began planning Bee Safe Mosquito Control, and a few certifications and licenses later, he’s now “inside the industry.”
Mission & Vision
Mission
Our goal is to offer a real alternative to traditional mosquito barrier treatments that is effective, safe, and affordable. Our mission is to reduce your risk from mosquito bites, while keeping you, your family, your guests, and your pets safe. And we won’t harm the environment in the process.
Vision
Today’s mosquito industry is unfortunately built on lies, purchased “science” commissioned to fit a pre-determined narrative, and a lack of concern for the environment. Often, customers are not even aware of the environmental impact of these treatments. We believe that it is time to leave pyrethroid insecticide barrier treatments behind, and embrace new technologies and research to control mosquitos without them. We hope to push our competitors away from these products, and towards more environmentally friendly ones. We’ll do it by simply telling customers the truth. Each customer we convince to make the switch is one more yard that can serve as habitat for the ecosystem we all depend on.
